Another Fashion Week is winding down here in NYC and while the past few days have been filled with gobs of endless glamor, one show dazzles above them all.  The Blonds are Sparkle Army favorites because they take the idea of “More is More” and shove it in your pretty face.  This creative and fabulous duo would never dream of “toning it down” for any reason and all I have to say to that is “HOLLA!”  I especially love their undersea galactica theme (I just made that up!) this season which made all the girls into hot blonds embellished with glimmering stars, deep sea jewels and strategically placed plexiglass lipstick tubes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another reason to love The Blonds is that they also design for our favorite fashion doll.  Officially named “The Blonds Blond Diamond™ Barbie®, she has never looked more sparkle-tastic than in this rhinestone encrusted number with matching sparkle shoes, sexy side swept hair and dramatically long (and thankfully not real) fur coat.  All together now… KABLAM!

Multi-Sparkle Nails

Everyone knows I favor the “dancing school fabulous” of multi-colored sparkles when it comes to my outfits, but did you know that also applies to my nails as well?  Seriously, why choose one color glitter to paint your nails when going with “the multi” is so much more exciting.  Two of my favorite products to achieve DSF or Multi-Sparkle Nails are found in the drugstore and so easy to apply that you can be ready to hit the disco at a moments notice.

Wet n’ Wild’s “Party of Five Glitters” says it all in the name: red, silver, green, purple, and blue sparkles floating together happily in shiny clear lacquer.  I like at least 4 or 5 coats for maximum sparkle, but don’t worry-  it’s a fast dry polish which means you won’t have to miss the open bar.  Sally Hansen’s Salon Effect Nail Polish Strips in “Frock Star” are equally dazzling, but take their “multi” a step further by adding orange and gold into that mix of colors so you can wear these no matter which color sequins dominate your outfit.  Now that’s what I call freedom!

SPARKLE FASHION VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is the motherload of Sparkle Fashion and all the classic looks are covered in this show open for the 1981 Disco World Finals.  It’s one fabulous satin, spandex and sequin extravaganza taking place on a light-up dance floor that looks like a funky disco pinball machine lit up by multiple glorious star filters.  In a way, I find it hard to believe that these are really the World Champions of Disco because while there are a few good dancers here, they’re sprinkled in between really awful ones (I get an extra big kick out of #6, Klaus from Germany! ).  Although, who cares really, because there is a Sparkle Fashion Onslaught of mad proportion happening as every single one of these people clearly understood the importance of dazzling on the dance floor and for that, they are ALL WINNERS!  And by the way, if I might add… SPACE CUFFS… get some!

WHAT’S INSIDE SPARKLE VIDEO DAY

Today’s Sparkle Video was chosen for several reasons, but mostly to remind everyone that the Sparkle Army likes BOTH kinds of music: Rock n’ Roll and Disco. Another reason is that today is October 1st, starting the countdown to Halloween- the holiday where everyone in NYC goes completely crazy, dresses up and parties!

In this video, The Cramps make a live television appearance in pure Sparkle Style style to answer the question everyone has on their minds, “What’s Inside a Girl?”.  Like many of their songs, this one takes humorous lyrics, old fashioned rockabilly sounds and adds a heaping tablespoon of psychotic frenzy!  I can’t watch this video without thinking of all The Cramps shows I’ve seen, the magic of Lux Interior and how much I miss him.  His passing was a devastating blow to the music world and fans everywhere so today, let’s go forth and make Lux proud! Grab your finest, sleaziest Cramps memories and put on some gold spandex, high heels and sunglasses (yes, i’m talking to the boys) and run in the streets screaming.. “Today Is Sparkle Video Day F*ckers!”

SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

I’m still on vacation so my clock is a bit off resulting in a very late post of today’s Sparkle Video. Once you see this you’ll understand how my week has been- nothing but fabulous!

This  DAZZLING video was made by the Berlin Sparkle Soldiers at Chlorophorm TV and it’s all about the Sparkle Army party last Saturday which was OFF THE CHAIN!  They did such an amazing job- I just HAD to feature it this week… ENJOY!

So Good Jewelry: APPROVED!

I’ve been having a lot of Sparkle Shopping Sprees lately and I would be remiss if I didn’t include one of my all-time favorite places for satisfying that powerful SPARKLE ITCH!

So Good at 448 Broadway in NYC is like walking full speed into a dream- walls and tables are covered with twinkling necklaces, bracelets, rings and hair doo-dads.  It has something for everyone, and you’ll see people of all ages and walks of life “Oohing” and “Ahhing” over some fabulous piece they just found.  I never come away with less than 5 items (gotta stock up!) and last Sunday was no exception.  In addition to my SPARKLE HAUL, I bought a necklace that is BEYOND FABULOUS– and guess what? Not one sparkle on it! That’s right… sometimes Da General wears regular ol’ jewelry, but if you tell anyone- i’ll have to kill you.

So Good Jewelry: It’s better than “Good” and it’s APPROVED!

DIY SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video defies logic. How can so many things that don’t make sense turn out so DIY KABLAM!?  My first thoughts: the song… why? Snoopy… why? Was Musikladen shot in someone’s basement? Why did one woman take off her heels?

I forget all those kooky mismatched ideas when I look at this duo of SUPER HOT DISCO LADIES who are rocking the show-stopping look I like to call “DANCING SCHOOL FABULOUS”.  Sequin Outfits with matching Sparkle Cuffs will never die, and throwing in hot pink feather boas: priceless!

Truth is, this video reminds me of those crazy after hours karaoke moments when everyone is feeling sassy and the costumes come out..  you know the scene.

KABLAM! IT’S SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

There’s only one thing to say about today’s Sparkle Video and that’s: KABLAM!  THE DAZZLE DANCERS are Heroes of the Sparkle Army and in this sassy version of the Love Boat, it’s pretty clear why. All of our favorite things jam packed into 4 minutes and 1 second of fun- scantily clad bodies, glitter, sparkles and MORE GLITTER! Did you happen to notice the fabulous use of SPARKLE CUFF FASHION? FRIDAY IS SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

There’s nothing I don’t love about today’s Sparkle Video- from the opening scene right up to the end- it’s sex on fire!  Lulu is feeling it singing “I Love to Boogie” but we all know what she means. Her divine hotness in that skintight SEQUIN CATSUIT, thanks to a steady diet of carrot sticks, screams MEOW MEOW MEOW! Once her underage dance partner shows up in equally tight pants, high heels and shiny slicked back hair, things really heat up!

Grinding on the dancefloor, surrounded by a circle of strangers rolling around them- it’s just like a scene from Plato’s Retreat… except with clothes!
