MANN’ IT’S SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video was sent in after Wednesday’s post about Disco Mannequins.  It seems there’s a fetish out there for everything and these glimmering mirror-tiled ladies have their own devotedly decadent pack of male suitors. Not surprising, however, is that the President of the DMLS, or Disco Mannequin Love Society, is non other than Andy Gardiner, half of the superstar duo Den Haan.  I can totally see why he’s into this kink though, because there’s no way in the world a regular ol’ fleshy gal can compete with these exquisitely tall, sleek, perky breasted goddesses that beam and bounce light off their every curve and are gloriously always the “life of the party” (ironic, yes?).  As you can see here in “Magic Carillion”, the singing spandexed Rose is doing a bang-up job performing to a bunch of equally sassy deciples, but it doesn’t really matter because everyone knows the real star is in this video is that spinning sparkling alien behind her.

P.S. IT’S SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is once again from our favorite show of dazzle and delight- Musikladen.  Here we have the Dolly Dots not dressed in actual sparkles, but making their own way in the disco fashion world with an electric “peter-pan-warrior-princess” look.  It’s quite adorable seeing the full color explosion that’s happening on stage while they sass n’ shake like their hips like cheerleaders gone terribly wrong. They also get extra sparkle points for making use of an effect we don’t see much of anymore -the legendary strobe light moment.

I don’t need to say much about today’s Sparkle Video other than it’s one of my all-time favorites and pure glittering magic.  The legendary Sharon Redd, dressed in bedazzled black spandex, is giving mad sultry soul with “Can You Handle It” in such a fabulous way, that if you’re not shaking your ass right now- you need to get to Doctor Sparkles pronto. However, if you’re like me and like to work it out in your living room disco…  ENJOY!

MUY CALIENTE SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is an extravaganza of everything important in the world: great music, sexy sparkle outfits and endless amounts of disco smoke.  This montage of dancer Gina Montes is from the Mexican television show “La Carabina de Ambrosio”, a variety show that ran from 1978-1987.  While we are used to seeing scantily clad women bumping and grinding for our pleasure in 2011, back then this was new and very risky for the largely conservative viewership. However, as always, once the people got a taste of Gina’s sequin and smoke onslaught they were hooked!  Bringing it to a whole ‘nother level is the “Tema de La Carabina Ambrosio” composed by space disco legend Quartz which truly makes Humberto Navarro, the creator and producer of the show, an all-out genius (and Sparkle Army Hero).  While this clip is a bit long, you’ll want to hang in there because you don’t want to miss Gina’s dazzlingly hot Wonder Woman moment!

XANADU ME SPARKLE VIDEO!

Today’s Sparkle Video is one of the most glorious musical moments in film history because it’s a non-stop assault of happiness starring the heavenly Olivia Newton-John and my favorite hollywood dancer of all time, the legendary Gene Kelly.  In this clip, the music of ELO sets the magical background for the best fashion and hair moments ever seen together which are also choreographed into a melange of roller skaters, pop-n-lockers, light-up dance floors and laser beams.  This must have been one dazzlingly fun shoot to work on, however, they totally could have sprung for more sequins (yes, I’m talking to you wardrobe department!).

EVEN MORE LOVE on SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

I know, I know.  I have featured this song before but not this video.  Yes, I “Love to Love” this track very much, but today’s Sparkle Video is really all about the male dancer.  He seems so out of place- like this is an SNL skit or Jim Carrey spazzing out in silver metallic spandex, not to mention his “sex faces”. Truly, it’s KILLING ME!  I have to think Donna Summer knew nothing of what was going on behind her because as much as she is my queen, he is stealing the show.

RED HOT SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is just what it says not only because this song is one sexy number, but because the outfits are TURNING ME with sparkle jealousy!  The Supremes are nothing less than “Red Hot” while they commit a full frontal sequin assault and then follow it up with the double whammy because underneath those fabulous frocks are the only acceptable choice: black spandex pants.  Gorgeously big hair- check!  Luminous disco makeup- check!  Six point star filters- check!  There’s not much else to say here except, KABLAM! Oh.. and that I will be wearing that at the next Sparkle Army party.

Ooo! IT’S SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is a request by Dave Danger, a big fan of Gary Glitter and an even bigger fan of fabulous entrances. Anyone who descends from the sky riding a smoking, fire-breathing dragon is okay in my book, especially if he’s in a silver metallic outfit that includes a slinky matching vest, chunky heels and topped off with his trademark oversized shoulders. IT’S ERIK’S SPARKLE VIDEO BIRTHDAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is a special birthday dedication to Erik, a devoted Sparkle Soldier who always brings lots of love, smiles, sequins and a proper “anything goes” attitude to the party.  That’s a very good thing, especially since his birthday celebration tomorrow night at Monster Ronson’s promises to be nothing less than fabulous and everyone who is anyone is going to be there! Which brings me to the video, “Roller Boogie”, selected by Erik himself because like most of us, there’s nothing he likes more than spandexed Roller Girls skating in a space galaxy tricked out with flashing lights.

HOT SQUEEZE SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

I can’t decide what makes me love today’s Sparkle Video more- the fact that it reminds me of having cocktails in one of those fabulously tragic cabana bars in Florida or the obvious choice that my man from Hot Chocolate is rocking a serious “moose knuckle” in his ultra tight silver sparkle pants topped off with a totally O.T.T. bedazzled belt. He’s sure got a major squeeze on those goods, but that’s what we call “suffering for Sparkle Fashion”!
