THE DEVIL MADE ME DO SPARKLE VIDEO DAY!

Today we have two Sparkle Videos because according to rumour, tomorrow May 21st is Judgement Day which means that this might possibly be the last ever Sparkle Video Day. However, on the upside of “Rapture-mania” is the opportunity to present the long held idea that one man’s Heaven is another man’s Hell and vice versa.  Now, I don’t know about you, but I like the idea that Hell might actually be a super fun party! For starters, all the people we don’t want at our parties here on earth will already be weeded out and- did you ever think that maybe the Devil has just gotten a bad rap?  For centuries he’s been the fall guy for many “righteous” people who didn’t have the bollocks to take responsibility for their own actions and that much bad PR would ruin anyone’s “rep”.  For your contemplation, I present:

Sparkle Video Exhibit A:
Here we have the Devil caught on secret camera in 1965. This supposedly horrible and mean soul-stealing guy is tap dancing up a storm, swishing and swirling his luminous satin cape around like he doesn’t have a care in the world.  He sure looks like he’s having a blast and I just can’t help snapping my fingers to Lawrence Welk’s jazzy tunes while I sip on my martini and chair dance so.. if this is hell- sign me up!

Sparkle Video Exhibit B:
Featuring the female version of Satan, “Girl of Lucifer” is more proof that the only place I could be forever and eternally is this dazzling “Hell” filled with disco smoke, flashing lights and star filters.  It also seems well stocked with microphones so we know karaoke will still be on the menu as well as lots of delicious sparkly cocktails.  Wait.. is this Hell or Monster Ronson’s?  Either way- I’m good.

IT’S ERIK’S SPARKLE VIDEO BIRTHDAY!

Today’s Sparkle Video is a special birthday dedication to Erik, a devoted Sparkle Soldier who always brings lots of love, smiles, sequins and a proper “anything goes” attitude to the party.  That’s a very good thing, especially since his birthday celebration tomorrow night at Monster Ronson’s promises to be nothing less than fabulous and everyone who is anyone is going to be there! Which brings me to the video, “Roller Boogie”, selected by Erik himself because like most of us, there’s nothing he likes more than spandexed Roller Girls skating in a space galaxy tricked out with flashing lights.

Great Moments in Disco Fashion History: Space Disco Coloring Books

Okay, you got me- this really isn’t from back in the day!  It’s the Join The Sparkle Army Coloring Activity Book, a fabulous collector’s item from one of our parties back in August 2009.  It all started when Ronson and I decided to make jumbo coloring walls for the party and I was searching tirelessly, Googling “space disco coloring book” day and night to no avail.  I was so shocked and saddened to find out that no one had ever thought to make something like this.  I thought, “how on earth did parents expect their children to learn about all of the important stuff in life like disco balls, sparkly cocktails and Spaced-Out Sparkle Outfits?”.  It was then that I decided to create my own images for the party and they turned out so fantastic, Ronson suggested we print up a souvenir book for our Sparkle Soldiers to take home.  Yes, thanks to us, some lucky children out there now have a coloring book filled with funny drunk robots partying on the dancefloor mixed with vintage illustrations of futuristic fashion from designers like Kenzo, France Andrevie, and the king himself- Larry LeGaspi.  (Your welcome parents!)

This glorious souvenir from our legendary party is long out of print, but if you’re gagging to have one, there may still be a copy or two available in the archives at Monster Ronson’s.  However, if you’re lucky enough to already own a copy, definitely hang on to it because word on the street is that someday, it may be worth a bajillion dollars!

It’s SPARKLE VIDEO DAY from BERLIN!

With so much to do before Join The Sparkle Army at Monster Ronson’s tomorrow night, I almost forgot it’s Sparkle Video Day!  ALMOST. Don’ t worry though- Da General would never do that to you.

This Doris D & The Pins video is one of my favorites and is a classic in every way- the music, the outfits, the gobs of smoke. In fact, with all the disco balls strewn about, it looks like Ronson’s right now- except that we have more GLITTER, SPARKLES and LASER BEAMS!

Berlin!

I arrived in Berlin yesterday morning and the excitement is overwhelming- everyone here is ready to SPARKLE UP and PARTY DOWN!  Glitter is SOLD OUT everywhere you go and talks of outfits are jamming the cell towers! This Saturday night promises to be LEGENDARY and with so many Sparkle Surprises and fabulous things to get ready, I’m unable to post as much as usual.  To make it up to you… here’s one of my favorites to get you in the mood.

SPARKLE VIDEO DAY IS “UP”!

Today’s Sparkle Video is one that will get you right up off your feet!  The gorgeous ladies of Stargard are a force to be reckoned with- all them sexy, sassy and fabulously dressed. I love that each of them is wearing a totally different look and all at the height of disco fashion: Metallic shimmer catsuit with batwing sleeves and gold boots, red spandex catsuit with matching cocoon coat, blush pink satin jumpsuit with feather accents.  If only people dressed like that today, the world would be a much nicer place.

Release the Beast

Better than coffee, I am starting my day robot dancing to Den Haan’s “Release the Beast”. Dazzling bits of Moroder mixed with trashy computer sounds is a match made in Disco Heaven and we can all relate to the lyrics.  They’re about working hard all week long and looking forward to getting SPARKLED UP and heading straight to the dance floor to RELEASE THAT DISCO BEAST INSIDE US!

Okay, so I added the Sparkle part, but they do mention putting on makeup, so it’s a natural assumption. Besides-  it will all be true on September 11, when Den Haan plays LIVE at the Join The Sparkle Army at Monster Ronson’s in Berlin.  I’m so excited!

Just when you thought it was safe to go out and not get hit by a glitter bomb, the Sparkle Army is returning to Berlin on SEPTEMBER 11, 2010.
